Reel Sessions: The Black AI Film Festival
Playground Pastime & The Referral Store, LLC (Founder/Curator: Kimberly Offord)
A quarterly showcase built specifically for Black creators working with AI — one of the few recurring AI film programs centered on Afro-Futurism and Black storytelling. Reel Sessions welcomes AI-assisted, AI-generated, and AI-themed short films where AI serves as a primary tool, co-creative element, or significant part of production. The festival runs in online quarterly cycles — September 2026, December 2026, and March 2027 — building toward an annual culminating event in June 2027. Categories include Afro-Futures, Black Life, Cultural Remix, and Micro-Series Pilot; quarterly winners earn Official Selection laurels, and annual honors include Film of the Year and Visionary of the Year.
